Golf is a game of space: the distance the ball travels, the shape of the hole, the water you have to carry. Most golf coverage cuts that space into pieces. FPV lets us keep it whole — one continuous move that starts on the swing and flies the same line the ball does, out over the hazard and up the fairway.
We shot this on a palm-lined Miami course, flying a single-take FPV pass in bright tropical light. Here's the film, and how a shot like this comes together.
Flying the ball's-eye view
The move begins tight — dropping in behind the player at the top of the backswing, close enough to feel the contact — then breaks away on the follow-through and accelerates down the line of the shot. From there it's pure momentum: skimming the fairway, crossing the water, rising to reveal the green and the whole geometry of the hole.
That's the thing FPV does that nothing else can. A camera on a jib or a standard drone can show you the course; an FPV drone puts you inside the shot, travelling at the speed of the game. It collapses the distance between the player and the viewer into a single breath.
Why it's harder than it looks
A one-take like this is a timing problem before it's a flying problem. The drone has to be in exactly the right place at the moment of contact, then commit to a fast line with no second chances in the frame. We rehearse the move, walk the line, and fly it until the timing, the exposure and the framing all land in the same pass.
Bright, high-contrast Florida light and a fast-moving subject leave no room for a soft exposure or a late reaction — so the planning up front is what makes the final take look effortless.
